How Does This Work?
Laser hair removal works on a principle called selective photothermolysis. The laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by melanin — the pigment in your hair — and converted to heat. That heat travels down the hair shaft to the follicle and damages the structures responsible for producing new hair, while the surrounding skin is left largely unaffected. Because hair grows in cycles and the laser only affects follicles in the active growth phase, multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are required to treat all the follicles in an area.
